Last working meeting for development of questionnaires for monitoring of court cases

As part of the USAID Legal Protection Project, on 27th of January Association ESE is organizing the last sixth working meeting for development of questionnaires for collection of data from court cases related to violence and discrimination against women. Previously, in the course of December 2014 and January 2015 in total five working meetings were organized, which resulted in development of base-line questionnaires for collection of data from the courts and public prosecutor offices, as well as separate questionnaires for monitoring of court hearings. The questionnaires for court monitoring will be used for monitoring on-going court cases related to violence and discrimination against women.

The process of preparation of the respective questionnaires included representatives from vulnerable groups, civil, criminal and misdemeanour judges, prosecutors, defence lawyers, representatives of relevant international organizations, as well as representatives of partner organizations in the project, LA STRADA and Coalition of sexual and health rights of marginalized communities. The court monitoring will be conducted by monitors from the Coalition All for Fair Trial.

The main goal of the three-year project is to raise the level of legal protection of women who are victims of discrimination and violence in the country. Data collection regarding the work of judges in these cases shall be used for the preparation of an analysis with recommendations to improve the protection provided by the judiciary and other relevant institutions in this area.
